With two former DWT colleagues diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, we’ve put a special emphasis on events to raise awareness and combat this terminal disease, which attacks cells in the body that control movement, causing paralysis over time.

To honor and support our colleagues and their families, DWT attorneys and staff participated for the third consecutive year in local ALS walks across the country, raising funds for The ALS Association.

The firm is also working to assist I AM ALS, a patient-led nonprofit that provides support and resources to those living with ALS, caregivers, and loved ones. The organization often receives requests from patients who reside in nursing homes or assisted living facilities, wanting to know their rights. To meet this important need, three of our healthcare attorneys, Darby Allen, Gavin Keene, and Marissa Fritz are creating a guide that will serve as a first resource for patients and their families.
We also organized a legislative training and advocacy event with the I AM ALS community affairs team. During this session, participants learned about two bills I AM ALS is currently advocating for in Congress. Both bills would provide additional financial and healthcare support to veterans living with ALS and their families.
